How Poor Towel Organization Can Lead to Airbnb Complaints

MISTAKE 1

Leaving some towels in the bathrooms and the rest in closets

Many owners leave only 2 towels in each bathroom

and store the remaining towels in the house closets.

Visually, this may look organized.

But operationally, it usually does not work well.

When towels are spread between bathrooms,

closets, or hallways, they end up feeling like

shared towels for the entire house.

Guests do not feel there is a defined amount assigned to each room.

In practice, this causes some people to take

extra towels “just in case,” while other guests

end up without towels available.

And usually the problem does not appear immediately.

What happens is that, halfway through the stay,

someone starts complaining that the house does not have enough towels for all guests.

Even when the owner left the correct number of towels in the property.

In addition, this setup usually creates:

 • excessive towel usage

• increased laundry volume

• difficulty with operational control

• unnecessary guest complaints

THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY

TO DISTRIBUTE TOWELS

A simple solution that works much better is leaving

the towels organized directly on each bed.

This automatically creates the feeling that the towel belongs to the guest staying in that room.

In practice, guests tend to respect the available quantity in that space much more.

 In addition:

 • reduces excessive towel usage

• improves the visual organization of the house

• makes operational control easier

• allows the towel count to be easily verified just by checking the cleaning photos after the turnover is completed

• reduces complaints related to missing towels

Besides working better operationally, it also makes the room look much more professiional.
